Peter Amelunxen completed his Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering at the University of Arizona and his Master’s degree in Mineral Processing at McGill University. He worked for five years for MinnovEX Technologies (now part of SGS) in the areas geometallurgy, process control, and process modeling and optimization. He then spent five years in with Freeport McMoRan in roles of increasing responsibility at the Bagdad concentrator, then Climax Molybdenum Company, and finally the Cerro Verde concentrator in Peru.
In 2008 Peter moved to Santiago to start a consulting business focused on geometallurgical studies for the optimization and design of crushing, grinding, and flotation circuits. He is a founding partner and serves as Director of Metallurgy for Aminpro Chile, the metallurgical testing arm of the business. He is also a partner and founding member of Project Nexus, an engineering company.
