Dr.Jan Nesset

Jan Edward Nesset obtained bachelors, masters and PhD degrees in metallurgical/materials engineering from McGill University in Montreal, Canada. He spent 24 years with Noranda (now Glencore); 15 in operations at their Brunswick, Mattabi/Lyon Lake and Geco mine sites as a process engineer and as mill superintendent’; and nine years in industrial Research & Development at the Noranda Technology Centre (Montreal, Canada) as manager of mineral processing research. Since 2003 he has been a consultant to the mining industry, primarily in the areas of flotation, gas dispersion technology and self-heating of suphides, as well as an adjunct professor at McGill University where he has taught courses in process optimization. He is a former Distinguished Lecturer and has been elected a Fellow of the Canadian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy, and served as Chair of the Canadian Mineral Processors Society in 2003. He has over 40 publications in the areas of flotation, comminution, filtration and magnetic separation and has been a plenary speaker, guest lecturer and course leader at conferences and universities in Canada, Australia, South Africa, Chile and Peru.
